Why I love Valentines day.. and not because I am married.

Oh Valentine's Day, you either love it or hate it. Some love it because its a day they can gush all about their partner and get spoiled with cheap chocolate. Others loathe it, down a bottle of wine, and hate everyone with a cupids arrow in their back. I personally love it for a different reason.

Valentine's day falls just 10 days after my birthday. Growing up, my grandfather would always surprise us, me, my mom and sister, with boxes of Fannie May turtles and meltaways, cards and flowers. I will never forget how excited I was to not just receive gifts... I mean have you tried Fannie May?! But be reminded how loved I was. He passed away when I was 15. Every year I feel sad my grandfather is no longer on earth with me, but I use this holiday as a way to remember him.

I don't think we don't get enough opportunities to express our gratitude to those around us, or rather don't create enough opportunities. I use Valentine's day as an opportunity to tell everyone I love, well.. that I love them! I spread the love by sending small letters, surprise venmos for coffee, and maybe even a bouquet of flowers or two.

I hope this post encourages you to share the love this February 14 with your loved ones. I think the world can use a little more of it.

Need help looking for the perfect gift? Look no further.
